A configuration is never an advantage by itself. It becomes powerful only when the quality behind it is precise enough to sustain it.
Our 3-layer configuration works because it is executed correctly. SAP is isolated between two uniform cellulose depositions in a single, compact layer, so it stays where it should, performs as intended, and never compromises comfort or structure. When cellulose distribution is stable within a 5% range, you can be sure the SAP won’t be felt during use, won’t perforate the nonwoven and will absorb at maximum efficiency.
The 5-layer layout is the right choice when cellulose distribution is not uniform. It compensates for variability by adding more fibre everywhere. It is a safety net: effective when incoming quality is inconsistent. But it is not a magic trick. It is simply the only acceptable configuration when the production environment cannot guarantee fibre control.
This is the point. High-potential configurations, such as the 3-layer setup, require high-quality execution. Without that alignment, a powerful layout becomes fragile, unpredictable and sometimes worse than a simpler one. This is why the 5-layer configuration is the only viable option for users relying on drum forming. Those who use RS forming, instead, can safely adopt the 3-layer setup, because RS guarantees an exceptionally homogeneous cellulose distribution. RS not only reduces raw-material consumption, it does so with such consistency that the 3-layer configuration becomes fully feasible, with all its advantages.
The principle is general. It applies to nonwovens, to underpad machinery and to any engineered system: configuration and quality must move together. When they are aligned, performance scales. When they’re not, configuration turns into risk.
